About me

My name is Wim Jonckheere. I was born in Belgium in a small village near the border with the Netherlands. Fascinated by languages I went to grammar school to study Latin and Greek. Later in 1982 I obtained the BA level diploma of translator for English, French and German.

My first job was in international transport and I worked as a commercial sales and administration assistant for a German forwarding company with offices in the Netherlands and Belgium, handling logistics and documents in English, French, German and Dutch.

After a short time in another international company in my native village, mainly dealing with French customers I decided to work in sales for France based company Fnac. Following my passion for music and technology, during 18 years I helped thousands of customers understand the technical complex terminology of audio/hifi equipment, car stereo, keyboards, musical software, digital sound processing, DAT, MiniDisc, DAB, DSP, Dolby Digital, DTS… A period during which I also translated a lot of reviews from French into Dutch and attended many professional sales training sessions from companies like Apple, Sony, Philips, Denon, JM Lab, Panasonic, Pioneer, Kef, JVC, Sennheiser, Beyer, AKG, Harman Kardon, Yamaha, Marantz and many more.

In 2006 I decided it was time to move from Belgium with my family to relocate in Southern Spain and continue working, freelance now, as a technical translator. In June 2012 I joined the ProZ professional translation workplace and offer excellent translations to both international language service providers and small businesses in France, Belgium, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania, Ireland, Israel, India, South Korea, China,Canada, USA, Portugal, Cyprus, Malaysia, Czech Republic and Spain.

In 2016 I relocated from Spain to France in the Mayenne region.
